His heart belongs to Britian, but Prince Harry knows it’s only good manners to share some of it with his Commonwealth brethren.

Playing the Olympic ambassador and good host, Harry dropped in on Canada House around lunchtime on Thursday, just in time to watch the final of the women’s eight rowing final on the big screen. Sitting beside Malcolm Howard, who already had claimed silver on the men’s eight team, the two men chatted away as the women on the screen raced to the silver medal behind the Americans.

There were 123 people at Canada House for the Prince’s visit, and Harry was his ambassadorial self in pressing the flesh and meeting people.

He was met at the door by Howard, who greeted him with: “Your Royal Highness, it’s an honour to meet you.”

Canadian Olympic Committee president Marcel Aubut presented the royal with a Canadian team jacket and Howard showed him around, including giving him a close-up view of his medal while chatting about his Olympic experiences.

Canadian slalom kayaker Michael Tayler also spent a few minutes with Harry, finally asking him for advice on the best place in London to go out.

The Prince, 27 and a well known party-goer, didn’t bite. He smiled and said:” “I don’t go out anymore, I’m too old, I’m too old.”

The royal Canadian connection didn’t stop at Canada House on Thursday. Harry’s sister-in-law Kate had on her own touch of Olympic Canadiana at the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon.

Taking her seat in the Royal Box with Prince William, the Duchess was again wearing her Canadian-designed Smythe blazer, which has almost become part of her de factor Olympic uniform this week. The jacket was matched with a bright blue Stella McCartney dress ($800 retail).

The royal couple watch compatriot Andy Murray beat Nicolas Almagro in the quarter-finals of the Olympic competition, putting Britain within a victory of at least a silver medal.
